2005: The Best Year in Hip-Hop in a Minute

We sometimes think about the past too much. Hip-Hop is dead and all of that. Hip-Hop isn't dead, it just evolved a bit. Coming off the G-unit dominated year of 2004, no one knew what to expects in the year of 2005 but late 2004 gave us some good signs. At the end of 2004 we had T.I. drop urban legend, Cam drop Purple Haze (the best cam album imo) and Snoop drop R&G. In 2005 we were blessed with many classics for the time. We got Game with the Documentary, We got Beans with the B-Coming, We got the trapstar Jeezy with Thug Motivation 101, and we got tha Carter 2. We also got some good albums in the Naked Truth, Im a Hustla by Cassidy, Massacre, Trill by bun B, A.W.O.L. by Az, and I hate to admit it but even Jim Jones Diary of a Summer had bangers. We also got 3 undeniable classics in my opinion in The Minstrel show, Late Registration, and BE. People need to reevaluate their statements. Even though in 2006 hip-hop went to sleep with all that dancing, we still got a lot of hot albums. Ghost dropped fishscale, Hip Hop is dead dropped, Hell Hath No Fury, King, Big Bang, Food and Liquor, Doctors Advocate, Blue Carpet Treatment, Kingdom Come, Jeezys Inspiration, and I was feeling the Pharrell hybrid hip-hop r&b joint. And also Game theory by roots and The Shining by J Dilla were slept on. I do say hip hop in 07 has been horrible besides Red Gone Wild and Fab, but people must understand if I could make a mil being a buffoon I would too. Many people would also. I also think the reason people think hip hop died is the lack of one hit wonders from people in the north, all of them come from the south. Thats the main difference from now and then. In the 90s we had 1 hit wonders like skee lo and ahmad and in the earlier part of the millennium we had mr joey jumpoff. All of these people named reached pop culture just as the shop boyz are right now. If the east coast invented crunk we would not be sayin hip hop is dead.
