Why Should I care?

For the past couple of days I been asking myself why is the death of Kanye's mother impacting the hip-hop community. I understand that at this moment in time that Kanye is a mega star and everything, but why is the death of Kanye's mother so important. It was crazy because as I was flicking throught the channels I saw CNN had it scrolling across the bottom of the screen, and I was in a car with my boy goin to King of Prussia and they were dedicating songs to her and stuff.I was like WTF. I would like to ask a question to everybody and it is How has Donda West impacted your life besides the fact that she gave birth to Kanye? I garuntee that atleast 95% of hip-hop listeners would say she impacted them in no way. The other 5% were probably her students. In my opinion I think it could have been a big new story if she was shot or something, but she died gettin a tummy tuck. What a wack way to go out. My question is when Nas's mother died, why wasn't a big deal made out of that. She died of cancer not of cosmetic surgery, and Nas is the 2nd best rapper of all time.I didn't find out that she died until the Gods Son album. My thing is if your favorite actors mother died we would not know about it, or it would be briefly mentioned. I guess this shows that Kanye is one of the biggest people in popular culture right now. I understand she heavily influenced his music but there should not be this much press coverage. I think the reason why this is happening is because they need something to fluff up the news to distract us from all the crazy stuff thats really goin today. But anyway it is still a sad moment for the people who were close to her and I send my condolences out to those people. R.I.P. Donda West

Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult

Was there a gun in the robbery is the question. Yall know Im talkin about everybodys favorite murder, Mr. the glove didnt fit, aka If I Did It: Confessions of the Killer, bka Orange Juice. Yall know its Orenthal James Simpson. My first issue is what is a Orenthal. Now I know why niggas call him O.J. Yo my assessment of this situation is that he is a scumbag and regardless if he guilty or not he need to be under the jail. Its obvious hes a scumbag even if he didnt criminally conspire, Kidnap, assault, rob, all while wielding a deadly weapon. If the accusations are false he still had something to do with it. I think he probably wanted his memorabilia because thats all he got left, cause he really can't earn that much money because it will go to the families of those who he murdered.(according to the Civil Trial) Like I supported O.J. before but this was the final straw, this and the book. This nigga is so dumb. I think if he wasn't nice at football he would of probably did like 2 bids already, and he would be the 60 year old nigga who is gettin arrested for some drug shit after he beat up his white wife and they found some weed and pepsi (don't matter what the brand name is) in the crib. O.J. is not a good person and isnt doin anything to help the image of black people, so send that nigga to jail.

Is Nas a Gimmick Rapper

Is the 2nd best rapper ever (Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z,) a gimmick rapper.I hate to say it but im startin to feel this. Around a year ago Nas started his hip-hop is dead campaign and many agreed with it and it is part true. It was a dope album, but really lacked the creativity I expect from a Nas album. I just think it sounded rushed. It probably was because they probably realized they had to capitalize off the hype. This year the same thing seems to be happening. About a month ago Nas all of a sudden said his album coming in December but Def Jam was like they don't have Nas on the release schedule. All of a sudden a week later the recently updated release schedule come out and Nas is on it and is naming his album Nigger. I personally don't care about the name of the album. All together Im against the ban of nigger, nigga, or whatever. It has been used as a term of endearment for the past 40 something years and most people don't even know the origin of the word. Heres an interesting article http://dallaspenn.com/weblog/?p=2031
Anyway is Nas a gimmick rapper? Think back the last Nas album with a real hype behind its release was I am and Nastradamus, and the latter was terrible. He fell out of the spotlight until Hov bought him back wit the diss, and that generated hype behind it. Nas next 2 releases Gods Son and Street Disciple were both dope to me but didnt really have hype behind them. Next thing he signs wit Def Jam and says Hip-Hop is dead, and now its a anticipated album. Now Nigger. Even though I like the music I'm tired of there being some controversy behind these releases. The record industry generally does that with every big release, (see 9/11/07) but I just don't think Nas needs to do it. He is the 2nd greatest rapper ever. But anyway that was just some food for thought, you do the dishes.
Old cribs I sold, y'all drive by like monuments/Google Earth Nas, I got flats in other continents

I Can't Even Front

Yo can someone tell me why my favorite new show this season is Kid Nation.I think its very entertaining. I started watching it out of boredom. It was a Sunday morning before football came on and out here in Philly on Comcast they got Network Tv on Demand, and I thought ,what the hell lemme watch it. It pleasantly surprised me, and now every Wednesday at 8pm I stop everything Im doin like 106 and park is coming on. It is a kinda cheesy show. Kids from 8 to 15 are put in this fake city. They are divided into districts and have competition for who will be the upper class, the merchants, the cooks, and the lowly laborers. Each week they award a gold star worth 20gs for the hardest worker. I never thought i would enjoy a show wit like 10 black kids out of 40. Its crazy cause these kids are madd articulate. I know I wasn't talkin like that when I was 10. To tell the truth some of these kids talk better than how I talk now. They make them make decisions on what rewards they should get and the choice is stuff like a washing machine or a pizza party. They try to tempt the kids with stuff that will give them instant gratification but smartly they usually choose the items that will be beneficial for the rest of there stay. But anyway Im enjoyin this show along wit Gotti's Way, and Dirty Sexy Money. Overall, I must say that my favorite show on TV stars everyones favorite ex teen doctor NPH.

My Nigga Will. I. Jiggaboo.

I must say before recently I would of called Will. I. Am. the definition of a jiggaboo. He sold out and went pop with Black Eyed Peas. He is an Exceptable Negro. Nas should of talked about him on Coon Picnic. Last year all of a sudden last year he started commin out wit hip-hop bangers and I can't even front the Fergie joint is kinda hot. Anyway im readin reviews and browsing hip hop forums and I hear he got a hot album. I was like WHAT!! But anyway when I got the cosign from some of my people I listened to it. Im not gonna say im feelin every joint, but he got a lot of hot ones on this Songs About Girls. The songs i dont like sound too much like black eyed peas songs but otherwise I like everything else. Im guessin I like this album cause thats the type of music I like. Im a N.E.R.D.(new joint coming march of april 08...Im hype) The other alternative type shit I been fuckin wit lately is that Kenna. He down wit the Neptunes so of course I mess wit it. Anyway I guess I like this type of music cause they talk about regular stuff. It might be a little off the wall (I swear some of these dudes be taking tabs), but they talk about stuff everybody could relate to. I mean I can't really relate to somebody huggin the block 24/7 (but I can relate to Fab who talks about Gettin fresh and bitches) but I can relate to this shit. I mean these niggas be extra emotional but I guess music helps them express their feelings. But anyway I never thought I would say it, but go cop that Will. I. Am. even though I didn't, but you got my cosign.

Im on my Foreign shit

The few frequent readers that I had know that I get fresh and definatley live beyond my means. During the summer I wanted to get a pair of Nudies, and now I have 2 pair (haters step your $300 jean game up), but I'm tryna get on some next shit. I want a pair of PRPS but everybody know about it and madd people got them, and they cost as much as these new shits I want. Im gettin on my foreign shit. I want these jeans called Sugarcane. These shits are so hot.
"Sugar Cane denim jeans Sugar Cane mens, Union Star dark hard wash, vintage cut selvedge denim jeans Sugar Cane mens, Union Star vintage cut denim jeans Heavy 14.25 ounce double ring-spun Zimbabwe cotton Red line selvage dark hard wash denim with whiskering Heavily distressed edges and hems, faded on thighs and seat Star shaped hand stitching on back pockets Five pocket, original designed iron buttons, button-fly Famous, hidden reinforcing back pocket rivets Deer skin leather patch on waistband with hand sewn star"
These shits got cotton straight from Zimbabwe. By coppin these im probabl
y stimulating African economy.Anyway I'm puttin yall up on some next shit too...the Canterbury Rugby. Im tryna have atleast like 3 of these by spring time. Its business time like Flight of the Conchords cause this is straight from New Zealand. The only thing is I need a job. Like how am I gonna cop $150 rugbys and $500 jeans. One of these hip-hop sites need to pay me for blogging cause im nicer than all these other people. Fuck the competition. But anyway Imma rock niggas come spring like im rockin blue and cream Clarks.

American Gangster...Whoa

Its been a while since I actually posted on this blog and a lot of things in the world of hip-hop has happened, most significantly the 9/11 battle. Ive been busy with school work and nothing really motivated me to post anything until this. All I have to say is Hov is back. He shows the world that he can put out a classic at damn near 40 years old. He said the American Gangster flick inspired him, but I think that was just an excuse to talk about drugs again. He noticed the failure of Kingdom Come and wanted to go back to the old Jay-Z. All I have to say is what a masterpiece. This album is easily a 4.5/5 after a week of listening. The only thing that holds it back from a perfect rating is the atrocious Hello Brooklyn featuring teeny booper favorite Weezys Fucking Baby. Besides that the second worst song in my opinion is Blue Magic which is kinda hot. My main question with this album is how do I like about 7 songs more than Roc Boys and that song alone shits on most rappers catalogue. These internet geeks might call me a stan but fuck it. Im sayin that this album is Hovs third best in front of the Black Album behind Blueprint and Reasonable Doubt. In time I dont know it may jump those shits. My thing is how even the song for the chicks got content. I could have done without the 4 year old Ignorant Shit but at the end of the day its still a dope song. Fuck all the haters I just had to address how hot this album was. I can't believe that niggas is tryna tell me this album dont shit on Kanye's joint, which was hot but overrated.

I'm Back

Yo I aint update this in a minute. First off 50 is back and has the hottest song in the city in I get Money. The boy Saigon got a hot one in that Dont Cha Baby. Weezy still doin the thing wit that lyrical homicide track he got wit Game. Also the countdown begins, less than 2 months for the new little brother album, which everyones favorite Mr. F-Baby is featured on. That new Common dropped and i'm not feelin it too much, not to say that its not hot but its just not as hot as BE. I'm still bumpin the Clipse album and the Pharrell joint, plus I got that Out of My Mind. I think the wack songs became hot but some of the hot songs are not as hot. My quest for Nudies still hasn't ended. I need to get some for a reasonable price, Atrium had a sale but they ain't have my size in the ones I wanted. Havoc is droppin a solo which is sure to be hot. This summer in hip-hop has been pretty slow, but its not the same in baseball. This the first summer I been into baseball since 1996. A-Rod hit 500 today, Bonds been chasing 755 for about a week and a half. Tom Glavine goin for 300 tomorrow. Aint no hot kicks come out imo. I wanted those MF Doom dunks but stores was anally raping people for these. They were hot but not $200 hot. KG went to the Celtics. I started rockin fitteds since I got madd free LRG new eras. I have a new appreciation for the skit before can it be so simple remix. That shit is madd funny, I seen 5 feens around the nigga. Also I was thinkin about the skits before Q.U. hectic and cradle to the grave. I usually hate skits but these are some hot ones. I like the T-Hugs cause if you take out the dash imma thug. The battle is on for rap supremacy on 9/11: Kanye vs 50 Cent. Personally I think the Kanye joint won't be as hot. Im not really feelin stronger and im tired of this nigga, but nevertheless I still hope his album is hot. Has anyone else noticed the great programs that been comin on the Discovery Channel, History, Court TV, and other similar channels. In the past year all of these channels been steppin their games up. Freeway is killin it wit that Big Spender joint. Swizzy ridin wit his top down, thats another banger. Still aint shit change. I had writers block but im back wit a vengence promising the best hip-hop blog on the net for my loyal nonexisting fans, even though the reality is that I got a little temp job and forgot I had a blog.

Havoc and Alchemist: The 2 most underrated producers

When people name their favorite producers, the cliche people named are Kanye, Just Blaze, and the Neptunes. I agree that they are three of the top producers doing it right now but people forget two of my favorites, Alchemist and Havoc. They are the two remaining people with that grimey 90s style of beats. Havoc and later Alchemist crafted the Mobb Deep sound. The only one of my favorite Mobb joints not produced by one of those two is Drink Away The Pain which is produced by Q-Tip. These two have been doing it since the 90s and still are on a bunch of projects today. Havoc recently had a song How we Live on Styles P Time is Money, He did Fully Loaded Clip for 50 Cent, while Alchemist perfectly crafted Prodigy's Return of the Mac Mixtape Album. Just Blaze has been my my favorite producer for the past couple of years but I just had to address this issue. They are underrated because they do not work with everyone. Alchemist said that he likes to give some of his best beats to unknown rappers, but people seem to forget that Alchemist has done two of the most classic songs of this generation in We Gon Make It, and Keep it Thoro. Havoc has established himself while almost single handedly handling the production of Mobb Deep albums forever.

WTF is This Shit - Dances From Tha Hood

I'm sitting up in my sisters house the other day flicking through the channels and I turn to MTV and there is a show called Dances from Tha Hood. It has this ugly chick Tweety hosting it. This has to be one of the most racist shows MTV has ever had. If the name of it was hip-hop dances I wouldn't have such a big problem, but why do the dances have to be from the hood. Why not from urban areas? Why don't they have dances from the burbs, oh they can't cause most white people can't dance. My thing also is if your going to name this show Dances from the hood, have hood people on it. In the background dancing there are a bunch of white boys toe woppin. I'm like really. This show is why I need to stop watching TV. Even with all of my hate, I did sit there and watch the whole show and must admit it is a good way for white people to try to hip-hop dances, but I am officially boycotting this show. Half the people couldn't get the dances right Even though I probably won't boycott this show, but it is definitely an exploitation of hip-hop imo. While it as an exploitation of the hip-hop culture, they are trying to make it an exploitation of black/hood culture by having "tha" word hood in the title. I wonder how long can it last. There are not that much dances to do unless they start teaching the reggae dances, which white people probably won't be able to get down.

She A'int Got No Money in the Bank

When you have no money, you make amends to make your money last. With all my opposition to the "Chicken Spot" I decided that I must eat from there last night because of my lack of money. So my cousin and I start our journey to the chicken spot down the block. It was an average trip so far but as we were crossing Linden Blvd, something weird happened. There were no cars in sight but one. As we approach the middle divider, this one car slows up. We did not know what to think. Were we about to get jacked, was it someone we knew, all things possible was going through both of our minds. As this run down car pulls up to us my first thoughts were run, but this girl pulls up, rolls down her window, looks me in the eyes and starts saying "She A'int Got No Money in the Bank". I bust out laughing in the middle of the street as does my cousin. We talked about it as we were in the chicken spot getting our snack boxes, finally coming to the conclusion that young hoodrat girls do stupid shit when they have cars.

Little Brother=The Last New Real Hip-Hop Group

Let's name all of the true hip-hop groups; Mobb Deep, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, De La Soul, UGK,Run-DMC, etc, and Little Brother. If you want me to name the only real Hip-Hop group to come out during the new millennium, they are the only one. They make that real authentic hip-hop. They are not a gangsta group but they are not backpackers. The average teeny booper would classify them as backpackers but they are not. They are average dudes who can rap. They rap about stuff that us regular people go through. They perfected their craft. Anybody that tells me that Minstrel Show isn't atleast 4.5/5 don't know hip-hop. Most people hate on them before they even hear them (which I admit I did), but once you listen to them you realize they are great. With one MC who I would rate at a 8.5 (Phonte) and the other I would rate at 7.75 (Big Pooh), with a great array of Justice league producers, who are they not going to make a classic. I was a little scared when I heard 9th Wonder left but they released the And Justus For All mixtape which is classic imo. Little Brother is the album I am anticipating with the 50 album. All I have to say is that people need to stop hating and go pick up that Minstrel Show and push it to gold, and pick up Getback when it drops.

Why I respect Yung Joc and not D4L

I hate to hate on people getting money, but I hate on D4L. I love hip-hop but they are not hip-hop, while I think Yung Joc is still hip-hop. They may make similar types of music, but atleast Yung Joc attempts to rap. He is bad at it but he is still rapping. His songs just happen to have that motorcycle beat to it. He is from Atlanta and is heavily influenced by that dancing shit. And tell the truth, who doesn't enjoy doing the motorcycle (they even bought it back for this summer wit Buy U a Drank). On the other hand D4L makes dances and then comes up with the song. They get no respect from me. I will admit D4L and all these lame rap groups did do something, which is bring the fun back to hip-hop, but so did Yung Joc and he did it with having some (but minimal) rapping skills. Before this whole southern dance explosion (which started with crunk) Hip-hop was something you bobbed your head to and caught a little diddy bop to, but now these southern people got the thugs dancing instead of leaning back. Even though I give these lames some props, they are ruining hip-hop. They need to be eliminated. I would not want to eliminates the Yung Jocs and Young Dro (who can actually spit), but we can get rid of the shop boyz, d4l, dem franchise boyz, and everyone else who wants to make a song that goes with a dance instead of the other way around. Oh yeah lets really get rid of the Aunt Jackie.

Album Review: T.I. vs T.I.P.

Obviously if you have read my blog, I do not think T.I. is all he is hyped up to be. I still think he is a good rapper but I think that his swagger out weighs his actual rap skills. With the new album T.I. vs T.I.P. you get a typical T.I. album which is still pretty hot. Though it took a couple of listens for songs to catch my ear, some joints definitely have. The album is divided into 3 sections, with T.I.P. starting off the album, then the T.I. portion of the album, followed by the T.I. vs T.I.P. section which is only 3 songs. Is it just me or is T.I. copying Cassidy with this different personalities. Wasn't Cassidy's first album divided in a similar way? But anyway the strongest section of the album is the first section of T.I.P. He has the two first singles of Big Shit Poppin and the Wyclef assisted You Know What it Is. Both of these songs are pretty hot but no comparison to the Busta Rhymes assisted Hurt. This is the standout track of the album in my opinion. We also cannot forget about the Jay-Z assisted Watch What You Say To Me, where Jay could possibly be dissin Lil Weezy. The Second portion starts out strong with the Just Blaze Produced Help is Coming but wacks itself out with another Wyclef produced song My Swag and a Nelly track which I am not feeling, but will be a great single. Touchdown featuring Eminem sounds decent but hasn't quite caught my ear. The album closes out nicely with two Danja produced track and a final track My Type where T.I. talks about many aspects of his career., Overall this album is a solid 3.75/5 but once again T.I. has'nt proven himself to me. He is still a good rapper but never sweeps me off my feet with anything he puts out, besides What You Know About That (Lyrics weren't even that good, hot track). I actually enjoy Jeezy's music more. My main question is where is DJ Toomp, but anyway for right now T.I. retains the title of King of the South but watch out for Weezy coming 4th quater.

New Weezy F.

I know I said I was takin a weezy break but this song is crazy

He was like stickin to the script like java

Who else was offended by Hola Hovito?

When I first heard Hola Hovito at the end of the Izzo video, I thought it was gonna be Hov's next banger. As I listened to it on the Blueprint I was feeling it, until a statement that made it become the wackest song is this very great album. The cockiness of Jay-z by saying "If I ain't better than Big, I'm the closes one." This statement is crazy. Personally I think Nas is the closes one, and when did Jay get the balls to say this. He goes through his whole career idolizing Big and then he has the audacity to say this. This must have been that armadale and Cris (his champagne of choice at the time) speaking. This has become a controversey in my eyes and divides hip-hop into 2 divisions: the ones who think Hov is better than B.I.G. and the ones who think B.I.G. is the best. I fall in to the latter division. Many who fall into the first category are the youngins in the game of hip-hop (these people may be my age but I consider my self older in the music sense). This controversey sometimes creates beefs between my friends and I. If you don't know the words to Juicy or the B.I.G. interlude (less than 1 minute verse) I can't respect your opinion in music. These are the same kids who think Reasonable Doubt is the best album ever and don't listen to many classics like The Infamous, Ready to Die, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Midnight Mauraders, etc. Besides older people I only find 3 people who I can relate to in music, who are my cousin, and 2 of my friends from my school, with one being from VA and the other being from BK. It is sad but I think we must school these youngins. The 3 best rappers in the modern era (post 92, before that is before my time) in this order are B.I.G., Nas, and lastly Jay-Z. Some people may throw 2pac in there but I am not particularly a fan. We must get this straight, B.I.G. is the GOAT
